20-Minute Spaghetti and Meatballs: The Family Favourite, Faster
Share
Spaghetti and meatballs is the dinner nobody argues about. The trouble is, rolling meatballs after a busy day is nobody's idea of fun.
So we skip that part. Ready meatballs, a quick tomato sauce and a pack of good spaghetti, and you have a proper family meal in 20 minutes.
Ready in about 20 minutes, serves 4
You will need
- 1 pack Nobre Almôndegas meatballs
- 400g Milaneza spaghetti
- 1 tin sliced mushrooms, drained
- 1 carton Guloso tomato pulp with coriander and garlic (500g)
- 1 onion and 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon Tierras de Tavara organic extra virgin olive oil, a pinch of Margão oregano, salt and pepper
- Grated cheese to serve
Method
- Put a big pan of salted water on to boil and cook the spaghetti following the pack time.
- Meanwhile, soften the onion in the oil for 4 to 5 minutes, then add the garlic for 1 minute.
- Pour in the tomato pulp, add the oregano and mushrooms, and simmer gently.
- Add the meatballs to the sauce and heat them through as the pack directs, until piping hot.
- Drain the spaghetti, keeping a splash of the cooking water. Toss the pasta with a little sauce and the water, then pile into bowls and top with meatballs and cheese.
Make it your own
- Gluten free at home? Use Milaneza gluten free spaghetti and check the meatball label.
- Hide extra veg for the kids by grating a carrot into the sauce with the onion.
- Leftovers make a brilliant baked pasta tomorrow: cover with cheese and grill until bubbling.
